Four decisions that separate a forgettable meeting from one delegates talk about for months.

Most conferences are judged on small things: whether the coffee was hot, whether the Wi-Fi held, whether the room felt like a place worth sitting in for eight hours.

First, choose a venue where delegates can also stay. When rooms and meeting spaces sit under one roof, the day starts later, ends later and wastes nothing in transit. That is what a hotel and conference centre is for.

Second, feed people well. Breakfast, a proper lunch and tea breaks that arrive before people ask for them do more for attendance than any keynote.

Third, protect the pauses. Leave space between sessions for conversation. Coffee in the common areas and a relaxed evening meal are not distractions; they are the networking.

Finally, tell your venue everything early. Numbers, timings, dietary needs, who is speaking and who is arriving. Our events team plans around the details you share, so share them.
